Engage youth, increase academic and leadership skills and meet community needs.
How? Service-Learning
Excel Youth Zone (XYZ) develops resilient, civic-minded youth leaders and empowers in and after school educators to support youth in being community leaders today through service-learning.
Service-learning is a project-based teaching strategy that engages youth in positive social, intellectual and leadership development by fusing academic content with meaningful service to their schools and community.
Service-learning is not community service and it is not project-based learning. It is taking the best from both, fusing them together and the result is a highly effective youth development tool, teaching strategy and civic-engagement model.
